This little device is a time saver. You quarter up the onion or whatever you happen to need chopped and pop it in the bowl. Close the lid and pull the cord until it is chopped up to the consistency of your liking. It's easy to use and easy to wash.
This chopper slices through things that I would need a full-on food processor to work through normally. The idea of pulling on a chord manually is initially off-putting, but you don't have to pull many times to get the job done. And our arm strength is greater than the power any motor could give anywhere near this price point. This device has been a real step up from any motorized or manual unit I have used in the past. I have also been in touch with the manufacturer with questions regarding the unit. They are super responsive and accommodating. Highly recommended.
I've owned the two-cup food chopper for a while and love it, but I foolishly decided to buy another brand when I needed a second chopper for my vacation home. That was a big mistake. After using the new chopper a few times and finding that it simply did not work for me, I put it aside and decided to buy another Briefton, this time the four-cup version. I've had it for a few days now and love it just as much as the smaller version. It actually hold six cups of liquid, although I do not recommend that it be filled to the brim. While the blades are larger and shaped differently from those on the smaller chopper, they work just as well. My impression is that larger is safer, and that it's harder to cut oneself on these larger blades--but it's still important to be careful. As a relative newcomer to this kind of chopper, I fault myself for not having bought one before. I thought that something that worked with a pull string would be pretty much a joke. It's not. Anyone who is looking for a new food chopper should take it from me and buy one of these.
